Choosing our Location

We reviewed a lot of travel blogs, pinterest and articles claiming it was the "best place to spend fall in America". We started a Pinterest board and had several ideas flowing back and forth, They all had a lot of merit, but we ended up getting to planning a bit late in the game... intact, in mid-August I sent a text to Liz saying "are we serious about this girl fall trip thing?" She responded "Of course!" and so even though our dreams were large, I offered up a location that I had been to before, Central Oregon.
Being lured by the prospect of attending the Pumpkin Lighting in St. Helens (more on that later)... we planned our entire trip to stay in the Portland Oregon area. However, we actually stayed out of Portland proper and spent most of our time in Hillsboro, Helvetica and St. Helens.
I live in Seattle, so the 3 hour drive south was no big deal, but if you're considering a trip from out of town, I'd definitely recommend the Portland Airport, and it's infamous carpet welcome! Liz flew into Seattle, so we drove the full way, by way of Ferry (which by the way isn't much out of our way).
Portland has a lot of spooky opportunities as well, but we choose this area to stay more rural. Our goal is as much Pumpkin Patch as it is Spooky Halloween items. In fact, if you give us a really good pumpkin patch, we may not even need the Halloween element!
So, if you're looking for a slower, quiet Fall-O-Ween opportunity, look no further than these quaint towns in Oregon, they have amazing views, and even better coffee.
